Professional Development Implementation Ideas

• instead of providing staff development to a general audience target it to k-2 and 3-4 chunks for elementary and then provide by subject area chunch for Intermediate 5-6 (math/science and Language/Social Studies) and then for secondary provide only subject area training.
  • Pros: More specialized training - fitting the needs of the teacher
  • Cons: Time investment (which would come out to be a positive in the end)
  • How to implement-scheduling concerns - do you guys have any ideas
    • Ask for staff days to be divided into chuncks so that the focus is not on just one topic
• Use data to justify needs within the district (STAR Chart, TAKS, Teacher input, Curriculum)
• Develop lessons based on weak TAKS performance areas
